Nineteen of the Russian's 21 championships have been earned on hard surfaces

A resurgent the Russian player won his initial title for nearly 30 months with a win over Frenchman Moutet in the competition final.

The athlete, a ex- top-ranked player, has endured a torrid season, managing just one win at the big events and undergoing a meltdown at the US Open.

Medvedev's inconsistency on the tennis tour - and issues with his serving in especial - resulted in him falling of the top ten and ultimately separating with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Presently training with his coach and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has gradually progressed in the last few weeks - culminating in a hard-fought 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Moutet.

It is Medvedev's initial championship following the 2023 Rome Masters and maiden on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.

The win also indicates he has secured 21 victories at twenty-one distinct events.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my children simultaneously, so to win a title is especially meaningful," said ranked player the champion.

"This championship is in tribute of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I got when my child Alisa was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six title deciders, including in that event earlier this year.

The player's defensive strategy and frequent outbursts on the tennis court had caused observers to wonder if his ability to perform at the top level was over.

Yet the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, supported by an improved serve.

The champion came back from a deficit in the first set against the challenging Moutet, securing 4 of the final five exchanges to gain the advantage.

The pair exchanged break points in the middle set before the challenger, striving for his maiden professional championship, gained dominance to create a decider.

He rescued 4 early chances in a tight final set before the Russian won the break to that score to serve for the match.

Appropriately, he secured the title with a rally at the front of the court, with his opponent unable to control a return after over two and a half hours.
