Tragic Update on Cargo Plane Crash: Death Toll Increases to 13

The tally of lives lost due to the UPS cargo plane which ignited and went down has climbed to 13, as confirmed by official reports.

Official's Announcement

Traveling to the Workers’ vigil, I was informed of a thirteenth victim that died as a result of the aircraft accident,” expressed the city mayor in a online message. “My prayers is with the loved ones, associates and colleagues of all who were taken in this recent calamity. We will overcome this collectively.”

Victims Confirmed

A release from UPS named the pilots operating the aircraft as Captain Richard Wartenberg, Co-pilot Lee Truitt, and Relief Captain Dana Diamond.

“Our sympathies go out to each staff member who has been impacted and everyone in our local community – helping you and making sure you get the attention and aid you need is our focus,” the organization’s statement stated.

Probe Details

Government investigators revealed that the jet’s wing burst into flames and an motor separated just after departure from the airfield, resulting in the plane to fall and erupt into a fireball.

The National Transportation Safety Board announced it is probing the jet’s upkeep logs, that was in Texas for repairs a period prior to the accident.

Flight tracking data revealed the plane was on the runway in the Texas city from early September to last week.

“We are aware that this jet was present in that city,” said an NTSB member on later, without a specific time frame. “We will review every piece of maintenance that was done, from the repair time, straight to the day of the journey.”

Recovery of Vital Items

The pilot’s recorder and flight data recorder were found, and the motor was found on the runway.

The units – known as flight recorders – were built to endure crash impacts and extreme fire from blazes, and they appeared to be in one piece when discovered amid the wreckage. Officials plan on reviewing information from the devices.

The plane’s final flight details indicated an elevation of 475 feet and a velocity of 210 mph before the accident.

Maintenance Record

Based on Federal Aviation Administration files from 18 September, a fissure on a structural piece inside the tank area needed maintenance.

Singapore-based ST Engineering, which indicated it supplies aircraft servicing for UPS’s MD-11 and runs a service location in Texas, refused to provide remarks, but stated it would assist completely when officials reached out it.

Services Resume

At the same time, UPS Worldport services continued last night with its Next Day Air or evening process, spokesperson a representative said. All three tarmacs at the airport were also reopened.

The sorting center in Louisville is the firm’s biggest. The center hires more than 20,000 individuals in the area, manages 300 aircraft daily and organizes more than 400,000 items an hour.

Public Support

A candlelight vigil was organized on the night of 6 November by the local worker’s group, which represents workers at the Louisville airport, the firm’s primary air cargo hub.

Worker representatives, which stands for employees, began the gathering with a period of reflection at 5.14pm, the estimated time of the incident two days earlier.

“This tragedy was so sudden, so unforeseen,” the official addressed the crowd of two hundred. “No one had a opportunity to bid farewell to any one of those who we have said farewell to.”
